Pride and Prejudice

Hey there! Jessi Gates again and this week I'm currently reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Now, I've never read the book before, but I own several books that are based off of Pride and Prejudice (and not the lame zombie remakes) and I have to admit I've loved all of them I've read.

Even if you're like me and you've read a hundred books based off of Pride and Prejudice, you still need to read the original because the remakes do not do it justice. Out of all the ones I've read, this book is it's own category.

Jane Austen has put her personality (that I love) into this character named Elizabeth Bennet and Thomas Lefroy into this character named Fitzwilliam Darcy. It's a wonderful book that makes you fall inlove with a character then she slowly makes you hate him or her. Then when you hate a specific character, you start to fall inlove with that character. You won't know what to think!

The Sky is Everywhere

Jessi Gates here...again. I hope you enjoyed Let Me In, I know I did (read the whole book in like 4 days on top of school). This week's book is going to be completely different, and even a little corny.

The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson is a wonderful book. Nelson's first novel is definitely a wise investment. It's sad and beautiful all rolled into one, 275-paged book. It involves death, heartache, and first love not to mention, the protagonist has an obsession with Wuthering Heights (even worse than me).

If you like corny, dorky, teenage slang, romance novels then this book is perfect for you. I enjoy it so much because it teaches you a way to deal with death and how to move on with your life. Not to mention, you'll become Joelirious. 

Let Me In

Hi! It's me again, Jessi Gates, and I hope you enjoyed Wuthering Heights. Great book. This week I started reading another awesome book: Let Me In by John Ajvide Lindqvist. Don't ask me how to pronounce it, but I'm telling you it's a really great book.

Now, if you haven't watched the movie yet, then go ahead and read the book first because if you watch the movie first (like I did) it ruins all the suspense. If you've already watched the movie then go ahead and read it anyway because the movie doesn't do the book any justice (not that they ever do).

It's about a pre-teen vampire girl who falls inlove with a bullied little twelve-year-old boy, and the things they have to do in order to protect each other. It's kind of like Twilight, but completely the opposite at the same time. A romantic, horror novel is the best description there is.

Wuthering Heights

Hi! This is my first blog, so I don't really know what I'm doing yet. If you have any hints or tips for me, I would really appreciate it :p.

I decided since I'm an English Lit. major, I should write a blog about reading, so for this week, I am challenging you to read Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. If you don't have it, then go to a libray; if you do have it, but have never read it, I strongly encourage you to do so this week; and even if you're like me, and you've read it a trillion times, read it again! It's a super-awesome book.

A tragic love story doesn't even begin to describe this book. It'll have you happy one moment then crying the next. You'll be on a rollercoaster of emotions, and loving it! This is my favorite book of all time.
